“Look Charlie, let’s face it. We all know Christmas is a big commercial racket. It’s run by a big eastern syndicate you know.” ~Lucy Van Pelt, A Charlie Brown Christmas. 1965
In 1965,this little animated feature cartoon by Charles Schultz, A Charlie Brown Christmas, lamented the growing commercialization of the Christmas holiday. Can you imagine what they would say about it today?
Hi Dora, Cool thought for the day; made me laugh! Lucy would know she was right; Charlie Brown would be stunned as usual. I’m enjoying looking at your slide show; wonderful!
I just watched “A Charlie Brown Christmas” the other night on T.V. It came on and I didn’t change the channel so I watched it and I marveled at the fact that as an adult I really got it. I really did – The whole thing! As a child I just ‘thought’ I understood but now, I am glad I watched it with my new ‘grown-up grandmother’ perspective. It made me wish I had done a few things differently but, sigh…can’t change the past.
Peggy, thanks for dropping by and commenting. I’m glad you enjoyed my thought for today and my paintings!
Wax Beach-I watched it too and as always, I felt sad and a little like Charlie Brown, looking for simplicity and happiness. But Linus, dragging his baby blanket and sucking his thumb, can sift through the clamor to find hope.
